A CHRISTMAS CAROL
These images depict my scenic design of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol set in the Lucas Theater in Savannah, GA.

As a designer I have always preferred to express my concepts in 3D rather than verbally, so when ever I read a script for the first time I create a sculptural object as an emotional response piece. Upon reading A Christmas Carol, I found myself drawn to how the magic in this play defies the laws of time and I created a sculpture that depicted time spilling out of a clock. To create this sculpture I found a clock and smashed the glass that covered the center. Once I cleaned out the glass, I painted the clock and wrapped it's surface with bronze and gold wires that spiraled together to create a cascading effect. This sculpture ultimately had a great influence to the color pallet and look of my overall design. My final concept was to create a set where the characters could live within a working could live within a working clock.

The set design was created with Google SketchUp and drafted in Layout, while the final images were rendered with Vray and edited in Photoshop.
